Andrew
Wiltshire – Chair (joined
2003)
Andrew is a skilled event organiser. He currently works for Australian
Association of the Deaf as a Community Liaison and Projects Officer and
has a vast knowledge of the national Deaf network. He was heavily involved
in the arts in Melbourne and was one of the co-founders of Deaf Arts Network.
As well as theatre and the deaf community, he brings to the board a wide
knowledge of good business practice and governance issues.
Glen Zell – Treasurer (joined 2002)
Glen is a partner with the chartered firm Chapman and Eastway. He has
sat on a number of state and national boards of the Institute of Chartered
Accountants, included being representative of the Institute on the Industry
Consultative Committee for the federal government's Business Entry Point
portal. He provides an absolutely crucial bulwark of financial knowledge,
which the company constantly draws upon.
Andy
Carmichael – Director (joined 2004)
Andy is a son of deaf parents and hails originally from Scotland. In the
UK he worked for many years as a British Sign Language interpreter in
theatre, the British courts and even the Houses of Parliament. He has
brought this extensive experience to Australia where he now works as an
Auslan interpreter, consultant and filmmaker. Andy was the sign language
consultant on the The Beach, which was filmed in South-East Asia.
Colleen Roche – Director (joined 2005)
Colleen Roche is the Creative Arts Consultant (Drama) in NSW working in
the Curriculum K-12 Directorate within the State Office of the Department
of Education and Training.
Colleen supports the teachers of Drama in NSW from Kindergarten to Year
12 in implementing new syllabuses, through practical workshops and seminars
for professional development and learning, and in creating useful resources
such as teaching units to be used in the classroom. Colleen has 17 years
experience as a secondary Drama teacher and extensive experience as an
HSC Senior Marker in both Performance and Written Paper. Her work with
the NSW Public Schools Drama Company as a tutor and director for 12 years
involved her in two overseas tours of England as well as all the country
regional tours throughout NSW.
Rebecca Cuschieri - Director (joined 2007)
Rebecca Cuschieri has fifteen years’ professional experience in fundraising
for the performing arts. While completing her Arts and Law degrees at Sydney
University she worked for the Bell Shakespeare Company, helping to develop their
sponsorship and individual giving programs. In 1998 she joined the Development
team at Opera Australia, eventually becoming Corporate Development Manager, responsible
for procuring and managing corporate sponsorships. She has recently taken up
a new role as Tessitura Business Manager in the Marketing department at Opera
Australia, co-ordinating the implementation of its new customer service database.
Liz Nield - Director (joined 2007)
Currently Opera Australia’s Director of Marketing and Communications,
Liz has extensive experience in marketing, sales and press relations
in the performing arts. After graduating from Sydney University with
Arts and Law degrees, Liz worked for the Screen Producers’ Association,
The Australian Opera and Bell Shakespeare Company before taking up the
role of Development Director at Opera Australia in 1997. She was also
Development and Marketing Director for English National Ballet in 2005-6.
She has been a member of the boards of the Sydney Peace Prize and Legs
on the Wall and has judged numerous sponsorship and marketing awards.
Alastair McEwin - Director (joined 2008)
Alastair McEwin is a management consultant who works in the human rights sector.
He is the former Chief Executive Officer of People with Disability Australia
(PWD) – a leading national disability rights organisation. Alastair, who
is profoundly Deaf, has undergraduate degrees in Arts and Law and recently completed
an MBA. He currently serves on the NSW Attorney General’s Disability Advisory
Committee and the NSW Disability Discrimination Legal Centre Management Committee.
